I enjoyed just about every ounce, slobbering my way to 300 pounds. That is what my wife, Carla told me. All my friends would tell me they were concerned about me and I should do something to get my weight under control and eat healthier. I wouldn’t have any of it. I was having a ball eating and drinking A LOT. I thought I looked okay and carried it well.
I really was not all that concerned about my weight because I was young, and I thought I could lose the weight if I seriously put my mind to it. I look back now and I was wearing bulky clothes, XXL t-shirts and a lot of comfy sweat pants. I was trying to hide my weight, and I did not even realize I was doing it. I was living every single day like it was Thanksgiving. It was just nuts. One day I hit a local Chinese buffet when I was driving home from work, directly before my wife was preparing dinner.

I was talking to my friend on a cell phone late one morning while I was going through the drive through at Wendy’s. I ordered 4 Jr. bacon cheeseburgers. My friend Jim said, “Holy shit, Jeff! Four cheeseburgers? You are going to kill yourself!” That’s when it hit me… I am a junk food junkie who cannot stop. I kept telling myself I would have one more bad meal. I would always lay in bed on Sunday night and say THIS WEEK I am going to eat healthy and start going to the gym. That went on for almost a year.
I finally went to the doctor for a physical. Which I postponed about three times, because I did not want to hear from my doctor that I needed to change the way I ate. My doctor asked me how many drinks I would have when I went out. Lying, I told him 7 or 8. He told me it was terrible to have that many calories before bedtime. Fine, I thought, I will start drinking earlier in the afternoon. My cholesterol was a little high, but my blood pressure was through the roof. I was 321 pounds that day. I stopped drinking and going to fast food restaurants for three months; I lost almost 45 pounds. This was pretty easy. Over the next six months I lost another 15 pounds. I could not lose anymore.

My next door neighbor is from Mexico. She kept telling me Alcachofa, Alcachofa, Alcachofa. I was like Alka-what? What the hell is it? As a 45 year old woman who has fought the battle of the bulge her whole life, I have a lot of anger, insight, and advice.
There isn’t a diet that I haven’t tried: Jenny Craig, Nutri-System (I did lose weight, but the food was awful), Weight Watchers, Low Carb, Body Cleanse, Hot Dog Diet, Grapefruit, and so on… I’ve even had liposuction and I’m still struggling.
I’m angry at my mom because when I was young, she didn’t teach me about healthy eating. Fat is distributed differently on women than it is on men. How your body distributes fat, if you are a woman, is based on your genetic disposition, i.e., your race, and your heredity. When a woman eats too much bad or fatty foods, it goes straight to the butt and hips. Soda, sweet tea, fast food, dessert, fried ANYTHING, burgers… do you get the point? This is unlike the fat distribution in a man, where that fat goes to his stomach and chest. Have you noticed that when you gain just a few pounds you can no longer fit into your favorite jeans? 3. DEAD LIFTS
Dead lifts are awesome for your calves as well as your butt. Grab a small 15 to 20 pound weight. Hold it in both hands or use a 5 to 10 pound weight in each hand.
Stand forward with your feet about three feet apart, with your toes pointing out. Hold the weights to each side of you, or one weight at the bottom of your stomach. Simply bend your knees forward from your hips. Try to do this exercise in front of a large mirror. Your butt should be sticking out and then bring your legs out to the extended position. Do about 12 to 15 of these exercises.
Try doing these exercises for at least 20 minutes a day. After a couple of weeks, you should be up to 30 minutes. This may seem daunting for someone who does not work-out on a regular basis, but it’s the only way you will lose your ass-fat with a killer diet. Nutrition will help, but exercise is the main thing that will reduce stubborn butt-fat.

I will list the primary foods that will help you drop the pounds. Scrambled Eggs, Black Beans, Broccoli-Cauliflower, Almonds, Limes, and yes, 1 square of pure dark chocolate (at least 60% Cacao).
- Have a few scrambled eggs when you wake up in the morning. The minimum you should have is three, four would be better. Whip the eggs with a spritz of lime and some freshly ground pepper. Limes are the fresh new alternative to salt!! Sooner or later, salt will kill you. I read a report if salt was just discovered today, the FDA would not approve it. It’s bad stuff. Salt will also keep you from losing weight every egg is around 60 calories and 6 grams of protein. They are great, eat them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They have hardly any carbs.
- After breakfast, have one (1) vial of Alcachofa. One vial will curb your appetite for hours. Pop open a vial and mix it with a small cup of O.J. or Pomegranate juice.
- Almonds are a great snack and they taste amazing. Eat them sparingly. Three or four tablespoons per day will provide you with three grams of fiber.
- Eat one and a half cups of black beans EVERY DAY. Rinse them, put them into a bowl, and add some lime juice and cilantro to them. You can saute an onion and some garlic to quickly warm the black beans, and maybe add a roasted jalapeno for a jolt. They are delicious and have the highest level of antioxidants of all common legumes. One 15 oz. can of black beans has 25 grams of protein and a whopping 25 grams of fiber. You are probably not getting enough fiber. What better way to do it then with a beautiful, steamy bowl of spicy black beans? You should eat black beans at least twice a day. They will keep your belly feeling FULL.
- Take another vial of Alcachofa, or a capsule in the mid-afternoon, to keep your hunger at bay!! With a high-fiber lunch and Alcachofa, it will keep you from peeking in the fridge before dinner.
- Eat a pound of broccoli/cauliflower mixture every day. Yes, every day. It may seem like a lot, but these veggies are POWERFUL allies in the battle for weight loss. However, do NOT overdo it with dark chocolate. When you have more than 1 bar it adds on too much fat. If you can’t eat just one, don’t eat it at all.
The above foods are, in a word, “MAGICAL.” You can eat an entire day’s worth of food for under $5!! That is magical by itself. One can of black beans is around $1.29, 4 eggs are about 60 cents, 1 combo bag of cauliflower and broccoli is about $1.89. Limes are around 40 cents each. These are some of the most nutritional foods in the world, and they have very little fat.
If you follow the above plan YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT. Just changing your nutrition will have a huge effect on your body. Put your body in motion for about 20 minutes a day and you will be killing it. If you are serious about losing weight, this WILL work. Again, do not waver from this plan.
Almost any fast food is REALLY bad for us. You didn’t need me to tell you that, did you? Most fast foods from K.F.C, Burger King, McDonald’s, Taco Bell are laced with insane amounts of high sodium, fat, calories, and even more crap. Fast foods can cause serious weight gain, tooth decay, high blood pressure, just to name a few problems. The USDA recommends a diet that incorporates nutrient-dense food with protein, fiber, minerals, and that have low sodium and little fat. Nowhere in their recommendations to they suggest FAST FOOD. Big surprise, right? Few fast food menus offer healthy choices. You can steer clear of the bad selections by paying close attention to the nutrition listings on the packaging.

After you see the lengthy list of the worst fast foods you can put in your belly, you may never go through a drive-in again!
- BURGER KING’S TRIPLE WHOPPER
Total Calories: 1,980! Yikes! Almost 2,000 calories in one sandwich. Are you kidding me? Why not just ask for a packaged heart attack next time you walk through the doors at Burger King? It will happen sooner or later if you keep munching on these.
- McDONALD’S BLACK ANGUS BURGER VALUE MEAL
Total Calories: 1,360! Where is the value in having your blood vessels clogged forever? Hospital visits are not cheap. Triple bypass surgery can be very expensive. Stay clear of this burger. Almost half your daily intake of calories in one sandwich.
- WENDY’S BACONATOR DOUBLE VALUE MEAL
Total Calories: 1,580! It’s got a tempting name, “The Baconator.” Do you think that bacon is high in protein, vitamins, and fiber? It’s not. It is one of the worst foods you can put into your body. Full of saturated fat and high, high in sodium. Wash this down with a large Pepsi and you’re adding another 350 calories to your lunch.
- TACO BELL’S XXL GRILLED STUFFED BURRITO
Total calories: 900! That is just one burrito! Most people have a taco, or a Chalupa with it and a soda as well. Can you say 2,200 calories in one sitting?? You might just as well call an ambulance after lunch. Sooner or later you will catch a ride in one, whether you like it or not. Taco Bell does not give you many healthy options. Say “adios” to Taco Bell.
- KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN’S CHICKEN POT PIE
Total calories: almost 800! They don’t call it POT for nothing. Pot belly is what you will get with a steady stream of these pies in your diet. Even frozen pot pies, like Marie Calendar’s, are freaking awful. They are a little bit smaller, with 600 heart-stopping calories. KFC’c Chicken Pot Pie has 80 grams of saturated fat as well. Crazy.
- SONIC’S SUPER BACON CHEESEBURGER
Total Calories: 1,350! Are you getting the general theme here? Beef, Bacon, Cheese, Buns? The quadruple threat. It’s also known as Quadruple Bypass Surgery. In case you don’t know, that is a surgical procedure to relieve ANGINA and REDUCE THE RISK OF DEATH. Go for Sonic’s Grilled Chicken Salad instead. It’s packed with protein.
- IN-N-OUT BURGER’S DOUBLE DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER WITH FRIES
Total calories: 1,080! That is without a drink. BACON, BACON, and more BACON. You’re heading into dangerous territory whenever you add fries to your meal at In-N-Out Burger. The fries add an extra, greasy 400 calories to your lunch. The fries are trans fat free, but that won’t protect you from the gut-bloating calories they carry. The In-N-Out Burger is a drive-through window you want to keep driving by.

Most dieters take two doses of the alcachofa vials (ampolletas) for the first 10 or 12 days. After the first two weeks it is recommended that you take an Alcachofa capsule in the afternoon. You can also take the Alcachofa tea in the afternoon or evening, instead of the capsule. The tea has NO CAFFEINE, so you do NOT have to worry about staying up until the middle of the night.
